Community education in Goma: using contraception to improve women's and girls' health

As part of its mission to raise awareness of sexual and reproductive health, Diaspora Médicale Plus-RDC (DMP-RDC), in collaboration with UWEMA-ASBL, led a community education session on Sunday 22 April 2018, under the theme:
” Contraception for women’s and girls’ health
The activity took place in the commune of Goma, with the active participation of women, young girls and couples supported by UWEMA.

Using a participatory approach, the professionals discussed :
The impact of family planning on thehousehold economy and public health;
The health benefits for women and adolescents;
The presentation of contraceptive methods:
🌱 Natural: calendar method, periodic abstinence.
💊 Modern: implants, pills, IUDs, injections, condoms

The participants expressed their concerns without taboos and shattered several myths linked to contraception.
